CITY OF PASADENA WATERING GUIDE 09/30/10

Watering Device Types

devicetypes[1]

The watering schedules below are calculated based on recent weather patterns for the City of Pasadena.

For convenience, the schedules use zip codes to identify climate zones. Many parts of Pasadena have
microclimate variations that might make your property vary from your neighbors. If the schedule for your
zip code doesn't seem to work for you, feel free to try another.

Climate Zones by Zip Code:

Zone 1. 91103 & 91105        Zone 2. 91101, 02, 04 & 06        Zone 3. 91107

1/wk = Once per week        2/wk = Twice per week        3/wk = Three times per week

1/mo = Once per month        2/mo = Twice per month        3/mo = Three times per month        0 = No watering required this month

WESTERN-STYLE LAWN         - Medium Water-Use
Examples: Warm-season turf grasses such as Bermuda and Zoysia as well as lawn alternatives such as Carex

Many California native and Mediterranean plants are adapted to dry Springs and Summers. This fact is ignored by most published watering
guides and the programming built into weather-based irrigation controllers. If you would like to use this approach in your Pasadena garden,
you can use the alternative charts 1 through 3 below. If you have an irrigation controller with a Percent Adjust feature, you can also use the
standard charts above and adjust the monthly watering according to Chart 4 below.
